Deep Eutectic Solvents: Properties and Applications in CO2 Separation

Nowadays, many researchers are focused on finding a solution to the problem of global warming. Carbon dioxide is considered be responsible for “greenhouse” effect. The largest emission industrial CO2 comes from fossil fuel combustion, which makes power plants perfect point source targets immediate reductions. A state-of-the-art method capturing carbon chemical absorption using an aqueous alkanolamines, most frequently 30% wt. monoethanolamine (MEA). Unfortunately, usage alkanolamines has number drawbacks, such as corrosive nature reaction environment, loss solvent due its volatility, and high energy demand at regeneration step. These problems have driven search alternatives that method, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) might very good substitute. Many types DESs thus far been investigated efficient capture, various hydrogen bond donors acceptors used. Deep capable absorbing physically chemically reported. Strategies further improvement, addition water, other co-solvents, or metal salts, proposed. Within this review, physical properties presented, their effects capacity discussed in conjunction with HBAs HBDs molar ratios. practical issues separation also described.
